About

The name "Charles River Murderer" refers to the location the serial killer would dispose of his corpses--the Charles River, a river running straight through the Greater Boston Area. At least 49 students, aged 18-35 were killed in various ways and then dumped into the Charles by the Charles River Murderer from 1992 to 2004. Each year (excluding 1991, 1995 and post-1999), the killer would mail a diary with severed fingers of his victims to news outlets. These diaries were publically released by the authorities in 2010.

Another key feature of CRM's murders were the symbols he'd leave behind, often of crude drawings of faces or simply smiley-faces.

In this media, which we have taken to digitally archiving on the web, you can now observe CRM's psyche from 1991-2004, and even study the case and the legal response to the murders. Now a cold case, CRM is a lost piece of Massachusetts history, but one that some will never forget.
